Nice take and nice shot- I have to say the first thing I noticed was the crease at the bottom of the book. I also think it would be a better shot if the keys and the book were a little more white.

Perhaps a little to hot. Might consider reducing the brightness a bit

Hello from the Critique Club!

I can really relate to this choice... and I think most of us here on the site can...so it's a great idea for the challenge I think.

I really like the use of dof here. It tells a story and gets the point across very nicely.

For the window, I'm wondering if you could have shot the photo lower, bringing the camera down and ending your shot with just a bit of the window showing above your head, and it would show more of your legs and seating area as well? That might have depended on the position of your mirror, but I think it might have been a way around your trouble with the bright window.

I'm not sure how to get rid of that reflection in the camera lens. It is a bit distracting, but in my opinion I don't think it really takes away too much from the shot.

I think you did a good job and I look forward to seeing your challenge shots from here on. Hope this has been helpful!

This states my opinion of the shot exactly. I struggled with the window. I tried a night shot, but the color was not captivating. I tried a ND filter, but it's the Cokin system and didn't look too great on the camera. And unfortunately, I don't have drapes. So finally, I just gave up and tried to fix it with PS, which isn't easy under basic editing rules.:) Thanks for your comment. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
