Being that is more a casual shot we will treat it as such. You certainly met the challenge and the idea to include a familiar father and daughter gives the image a human interest. The few minor things to improve the comp as is is to crop it tighter, right at the start of the visible rail. Now, the focus appears to be with the wooden planks because the image begins to blur rather rapidly. This could have been improved by closing the aperture one stop. You would then be shooting at 60th of a second but enought to stop the action since the figures are moving not across, but away from the camera.

When you think of a vanishing point, then you want a deep dof and if the lighting at this times was not favorable, you should consider a brighter day or time of day.

Blackdog hit the nail on the head regarding the distraction of the girls head. All movement should be towards the vanishing point. The side glance pulls the eye away.

However, as is, the image is a charming capture of a walk in the park. You know, the challenge places limitations.

Comment by Blackdog:
A nice try at the challange. Plenty of lead-ins, the edge of the grass, the gaurd rail, the decking etc. They all lead the eye into the picture, but there isn't really an object of interest to see there once the eye is drawn in. The child looking the other way is distracting, makes you want to see what she is looking at. The picture as a whole is a bit messy and cluttered. Try changing your view point with shots like this, keep the lead-ins as strong as possible but try to loose as much clutter as possible.

I like the idea used here. If I chose one thing I would have done differently, I would have got down on my knees to the little girls level and made her more of the picture. You would not have lost the vanishing point if you took a step to the left.

Love the fact that the father/daughter (I presume) is going toward the vanishing point.

I find the hand on the right distracting...perhaps a crop could do the trick.

Awesome pic. Nice composition, good exposure, and I like the colors of the light filtering through the classes and on her outfit.

I didn't get to vote on this challenge, but I would have given this (another) 5. The point of view is unusual, which works for me. However, I can't see the multi light sources. I know they are there, but I have to work for it. In terms of creating a nice picture, I love the tones and the composition. As far as doing well at DPC - you can't make the viewer work for it. 5 seconds - that's all you have. From the time the pic loads (and sometimes not all the way) til they press the button - 5 seconds. :)

Good luck!

Some people have an unfair advantage, they have great models to work with! What a pretty girl. Great photo! 10 all the way!
