This is just creepy! Especially how the light makes the doll's right eye look rheumatic.

I'm not a fan of selective desat, but putting that aside while grading today. Instead, I'm grading overall composition and whether I feel like the item that is colored draws my interest or if i feel like it pulls my interest away from something else that i find more personally meaningful in the picture.

The chair is placed nicely in frame and draws the eye. I like the continuation of the color on the bricks as it helps draw the eye to the chair and helps to balance out the strong red of the chair. I don't much like the color on the back wall behind the tree as it draws away from the chair as a subject.

For this shot, the color is on a visually appealing curving line that meanders nicely through the frame.

It doesn't wow me, but it is a nice picture.

I love the textures in this shot and love the angles. This is truly a unique shot. But, in this one, the blue of the sky just doesn't compare to the texture of that wall. It does, however help to add context, by showing that above is a skylight that would be a bit harder to make out if the whole picture were greyscale.

In this shot, well. It is a silly decoration posed on a handsome dog. His expression is a bit, "what is this $&()(& next to me?"

So for that, what is colored is a nice choice, but the background is busy- especially the helmets on the blanket. And the dog's eyes look distorted by either a flash or some other light source. Lastly the focus on the eyes is a bit soft.

Let me say first that i love this shot- hate the selective desat.

The boy's posture, gesture and that look! What a photograph. That scar- it all draws me in. The boys in the background are a bit distracting. But that is a big nit pick- as I didn't even notice them till I started to study the picture further and thought to look to see what the background was. Even now, knowing they are there, my eyes are drawn back to the boy.

Overall I think this would work much better as a full b/w. I find myself wondering what the color of his clothing is suppose to mean/ represent and My only guess is that perhaps it is the color an order of monks wears.

So i'm not fond of that being highlighted, as I think I could have hazard a guess that he was a monk without any color in the shot. And, unfortunately, the color is a bit distracting in this shot. Would love to see this worked as a full b/w.

I checked on four different screens (2 monitors and 2 iPhones) and cannot tell what in this picture is in color. Further, I have no idea what I'm looking at. If I were to guess I'd say a paper doily held behind a gas lantern.

Am I close?

His is a bit too abstract for my taste.

For this picture, the green moss looks a bit alien against the grey of the rocks. It doesn't seem as alive as green things usually look. So loss of some points there from me.

Overall composition of the shot is okay, the water is coming into the frame in a location that feels a bit jarring, perhaps due to not seeing the top of the fall in frame.

i don't really like selective coloring. But the shallow DoF of this picture helps to sell it. I find myself wondering what this pic would look like if it were fully b/w or fully color.

For me it would be a pedestrian flower shot if it was all b/w or all in color.

So, well done finding a way to use this technique to make an overdone subject more interesting. Nice framing as well.
