I had an unexpected reaction to this, as I see the old hand holding the younger one down in a gesture of surrender, like they were arm-wrestling & the younger arm lost. It's probably because of my uneasy relationship with my mother. But then there's that BW grittiness. It would've been a completely different feeling if the older hand was on the bottom, palm up. Anyway...
