Re-Birthby njsabsComment: I understand what you meant about the textured one. The details in the girl's neck are better and a lot better in her hair. But I think it loses something from your entry though.
Congrats on yer first yellow! See you at the top of the pile again sometime soon. |

Port Side Sunriseby jegerComment: Not just congrats on the ribbon(s) but congrats on a great picture. I was showing it to a non-photography friend to let him see what gets done here. Yours was a really good first look for him.
As for 1x - back in college a friend because an art major. After four years of study he finally gave me the definition of what art really was. Art is whatever you can get away with. They didn't like this, but seriously (and no sour grapes here) that is their loss. You can still display or sell this through different places if you wish.
Finally, if you do do the paper on the before and after please let me know. I would love to see it. I could learn a lot from you.

Dark Futureby denboteComment: Hello,
I am a big fan of Zoriah Miller's work. He does a lot of disaster photography and work capturing the images of what Sociologists have called "the underclass". There's a lot of sad beauty (as well as a call to spiritual arms so to give care and love) in the shoots of Zoriah or Lange or this one.
You've done a great job with this photo - it looks excellent. I particularly like how it seems the girl and her bag are separated from the background, how you've pulled them forth.
Thank you for a good job! |

Mongolby kris11Comment: Hello,
My name is Mikasi and I am a member here. One of my goals this year is to walk out of 2010 a better photographer. To do this, I am contacting 3 people this week from DPChallenge who have photos I like and asking them how they did it.
I was looking at your photo Mongol - it is really good. The shadows, the crisp look of the crinkles in the jacket, the balance of the dark drama in the sky with the well-illuminated foreground characters. These and other things make the photo look really great.
You're likely really busy, but if you have some small time could you drop a line telling me a little of what you did to make this photograph look so good? That is if you find time to write amongst all the other things you do.
Thank You,
Mikasi |

U n d o n eby phloverComment: Hello,
My name is Mikasi and was hoping you could give me a quick tip or three. See, I am trying to improve my photography and to do this I am contacting a couple photographer who have done photos I like and wish I could do. You photo, Undone, is really good - the tones are fantastic, it has a wonderful depth to it, it just looks great.
I was wondering if you could tell me a couple of the things you did to bring out the qualities in this shot. You are busy and if you don't write back, that's understandable (in fact I only want short ideas because you likely are really busy) but know that if you did write back I would appreciate it.
Thanks Much,
Mikasi |
