Put this in front of a more appealing background, maybe one full of context and this would be better. Also, would prefer you use your full available pixel dimensions to show off the details of the teapot and cup. Not voting yet.

A tighter crop would make this a much stronger photo, in my opinion. I'd like to see more bird, and less fence.

A slight levels adjustment would have really made this pop a lot more and gotten this image higher marks I'm sure. Processing is important :).

Although I appreciate the emotional value of this, I find myself wishing the image had more contrast and that you could "feel" the inner struggle in the whole image not just the actual person. Maybe by making the rest of the image darker or by adding some elements to it.
