This photo, I think, would be so much lovelier if the background and other ladies were not blurred out. I like the choice of sepia tint, and I the shady/sunny spots really give this a nice, warm, fuzzy feel.

I like this portrait - the black and white works well here, and the woman's eyes really seem to twinkle. Nice sharpness (maybe a tad too much, but it works for b&w), and I like the crop; the sort of diagonal line is pleasing to the eye. Good job.

This is adorable - you've captured quite the array of expressions, and I love the colours. It'd be nice if this weren't cropped quite so tight, and the lighting is not quite ideal, but this is still a sharp, interesting picture. Nice job.

Clever title for an excellent black and white image. The tones are great in this - I see true blacks and whites, with no detail lost. Nice work.

The composition here is great - the photo is both adorable and touching. I do have a couple of suggestions, though. I think the crop is just a tad too close, particularly on the left side, where the knuckles are being cut out; also, it looks as if the background was blackened, and this is very apparent on the older arm. I would also suggest working a bit on the colour or simply going black and white with this; the colours really don't do this cute baby justice! The DOF is just a bit off, as the top of the arm is blurry. Nonetheless, I like the way this shot is lit for the most part, and some minor editing would really make it pop. Nice effort!

That one from 16point2mm about motion was the most helpful here, I guess. On other hand, what is a help from just saying "Good picture though"?

Thanks for pointing that out. I missed that comment entirely. The other one isn't marked helpful because it's not. :) The person missed the point of the photo (the indentation.. not swelling) and didn't give any useful feedback otherwise. I mark nice ones (and criticisms) helpful because I appreciate people commenting. I can only think of two other comments that have been made in my DPC career that I've not marked helpful, but I could be wrong. Only those two stand out though, and I think it's obvious why they're not marked helpful.

I like the idea of this, and the title's clever. Black and white works well for the theme of boredom. A slightly deeper DOF would have been nice, and maybe a little better light to minimize the shadows.. they're a tad distracting (to me) in that they're neither overly obvious nor pleasantly subtle. The black where the edge of the board is also bothers me a tad... but I don't really see any way around that, give the angle, unless it were cropped more closely and framed letterbox style.

I like the overall feel of it, nitpicking aside, and the diagonal composition works nicely. I didn't even consider this sort of take on the challenge.

I gave this a six, and I might have scored it higher had I liked the colours a little more ;) I personally rather liked the unique take... it's very much something I would expect from a painter, but I'm not surprised that it wasn't well received. DPCers are often more concerned with the technical side of things than the creative (amazing given that most of us have no education whatsoever in photography) and tend to jump on anything they don't see as fitting the challenge (unrelated technicalities). It's pretty easy to not meet the challenge here. We've all done it. :)
