Critique Club comment.

Image of patterned dots, clearly fabric from the grain of the lighter portions. A line of dots travels from one corner to another in a pleasing swoop. The image fits the challenge, if marginally.

The interest of the cutouts is lost in the image. Shadows appear in the left and right corners of the non-dominant lines of dots. Without your interesting description this feature is obscured.

It is a graphic presentation that could suggest tentacles...or bubbles...or just a nice pattern for home-wares. It lacks dimension overall and where dimension appears it is side-lined, relegated to the corners. In the lower right corner the dots go curving away...which could be interesting but didn\'t become a feature. I think that paying more attention to the little things would help in an image like this where every little thing plays an important role.

I can understand the fun of exploring a new object with the lens. If you were to re-shoot the subject perhaps you could try playing on the gap of the top fabric from the lower, working on the dimension of the object. More "you" and less "person who designed this pattern" might bring this up a notch.

I like the way the pole becomes a tall face to me. (Transformer = nose) Kind of a serious fellow determined to do his job well. :-]

Great composition! The full moon made a timely appearance this week. This image would be a bit more handsome if the noise around the insulators and lines.

Nice tension. The tilt of the tower makes it feel like it's pulling the clouds into the sky.

Of the several similar shots I like this one best. I think you nailed the composition. Lining up the supports with the corners of the frame sets the rest into an interesting spiral of squares diminishing into the distance. I don't know if you have to have stood under one of these to appreciate the dizzying kaleidoscope but I have and I do.

It had to be done and you were the only one to do it...and you did it well! I just laughed when I saw this image because I'll never understand what compels children to fling perfectly fine shoes into the sky, out of reach, out of shame or spite or jealousy...?

Fine graphic with perfect color palette. Great subject. Hope it all translates.

The Powerline Sentinals

Comment:
The powerlines are a bit secondary in this image. But, still, they are integral. I like the graphic structure of the image. The blank sky provides an interesting canvas for all the zig-zags of the structure to the right and the herons. I know it might have been impossible to avoid but the glowing light of the pylons (lower left corner) competes for attention in the image. Looking forward to finding out where one finds so many herons hanging out.
