I saw your request for comments. I think you may have made it really hard for yourself to get a high score, as this image is similar to "a shot" that has been done extremely well many times before. I think what separates your image from the others is that the eyes are not as distinct in yours. I think adding a bit of color, for example a little green, could make the eyes pop a bit more. Or at least just adding a dark line around the iris, if you are not into manipulating the model's features. Two DPC-images that came to mind when I saw your image, which instantly draws me in due to the focus on the eyes is
by MAK and
by kiwiness
Both have very vibrant eye color and an enhanced dark line around the iris

What backdoorhippie said made total sense for me. I scrolled down and felt urged to had an attempt at cropping your image (just from a screen shot). I hope you don't mind, Mike. I just thought I might learn something as well :)

By all means not implying that it is better than the original, but this was a crop that I liked.

I understand that the waterfall is a hidden little treasure, which gives me an idea of how nice it probably was to be there in real life, but my initial thought when I first saw the image was as Ja-9 pointed out - the waterfall being secondary to the big rock. The waterfall becomes too hidden in my opinion. That being said I like the nice autum colors and that the images is a different from many other waterfall images :) I'm sure it will look nice on your wall!

I saw your comment request. Not sure if you also want feedback from someone who is hardly dry behind the ears, but here is my two cent :)

I agree with Snaffles that the isolation of the eyes is great. I hope I never have to look at a similar expression in real life, unless I am looking through binoculars standing more than 2000 feet away :) I too would have liked to see the nose more in focus.

I am by no means an expert on b&w, and I might be completely wrong here, but I think I would have preferred a tiny bit more contrast in this images. To be honest, I think I actually prefer the color version. Sorry! The warm yellow on the bottom jaw gives the images vibrance and the weed on the top jaw makes the animal look more wild, in my eyes. To be honest I did assume this was a zoo shot when I saw it during voting. Had a look at your gator gallery. I particularly liked the first one, because there was more of the environment included in the images. There where several images in your gallery that I really liked.

It was interesting to read your comments. Will watch the video when I'm not about to go to bed :) I might get nightmares!

The sky looks fantastic, but (at least on my screen) there is sooo much noise in the rocks and beach foam. Great composition and crop though! Best of luck in the challenge :)

I don't know what I was thinking when I first gave this a 6. The b&w is wonderful and the images looks like one of those extremely elaborate woodcuts or super detailed drawings. I salute your for envisioning this from something as "mundane" as two trees. Best of luck in the challenge :)

Mother nature sure is beautiful! Awesome job capturing the colors in the sky and the reflections in the water. For me however the trees are not that interesting and makes the image a little flat. Still, I have no doubt that it was a gorgeous view in real life! Best of luck in the challenge :)

I think it is a clever idea to use the branches as a kind of frame, but in this particular images I feel like they are a bit to dominating. The mountains and the forest in the background are beautiful and you have captured them really well. The reflection is also very nice. Good luck in the challenge :)

Cute image! In my view the processing is however a little bit too "dreamy" (I hope that makes sense). Best of luck in the challenge :)
