Sorry but this misses the Mark with me. I cannot see any sharpness in it perhaps your camera was too close to the subject

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Wow, Max! This is an intriguing image!

The colors, the detail, the empty background... all lead to mystery and intrigue.

I've not seen the series Hannibal, but... I like this style.

I agree with your commenter that the composition could be a bit better. I'd have taken a bit off the left... and added a bit to the right to make the viewer "see" what the model is seeing... and imagine what he's seeing.

I love the detail of your model and the glasses. The hairs and the skin texture... amazing!

I think what messed up your score is that... the mystery... the tension of the viewer trying to see what the model is seeing... and yet... there's no way to see it... the background is blank (which I've already said I love, but it adds tension). The tension doesn't match the challenge topic of CALM.

That's my opinion. I love the image for so many reasons... but not for this challenge topic.

I can't wait to see your next entry!

Greetings from the Critique Club, Max!

This is so simple and so stunning and yet... some never see it. They/we pass right by. Well done!

I like the composition and the clarity/sharpness of the drops. I'm not as fond of the odd color you've chosen. But, I'm not sure it would be as good in BW. So... perhaps less saturation and a different hue?

Anyway, it got 8th place and a good score, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. :D

I wish you'd come enter again... I love your style.

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

An appealing image that is assumed to meet the challenge.

The golden grasses and blue skies complement each other well, the inclusion and position of the elephant completes the scene. However, I do wish the elephant was walking towards us it would be far more interesting than its posterior, I also wish the small tree next to him wasn't cropped. It might also be beneficial to correct the slight tilt to the left. Overall its a pleasing image but it lacks impact.

Thanks for your submission, apologies for the delay, Sid

An interesting image that meets the challenge well.

Well done, yours is one of the few attempts I have so far critiqued that has attempted to meet the challenge head on in camera as opposed to simply inverting an image. The end result is a quirky image that may well perplex and confuse many who view it, I like it. I see you have inverted the bottle before standing it next to the glass and then inverted the whole, it works well. And bonus, your attention to detail hasn't ended there, you've even made the title upside down, perhaps you've made a PS text inverted image from it?

The only thing that I think I need to draw attention to are the small blown highlights on the glass from the flash, they are not major but they are there and to me at least undesirable. I do commend you for your approach and feel it deserved a lot more appreciation here than it received.

Thanks for your submission and apologies for the delay, Sid

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

A very appealing image.

I would normally prefer a bird to be taken from the front so that we can see it face on but from this angle you have been able to reveal the lovely detail in its wings being held in an aggressive gesture as they do when they are annoyed or threatened, so although we cannot see the protagonist we sense that from his posture. The water itself forms a lovely contrasting backdrop to the whites of the bird itself and as your commenter has said there is some lovely detail there too.

Your composition is good, though to be honest, I think I would have preferred this in landscape format thus cropping some of the excess above the bird and replacing the somewhat close crop of the left of the image with some space for the bird to look into. Your exposure is good, you have brought out the lovely whites in his plumage without overdoing it and blowing the highlights. I like that you have left enough space for the birds reflection which adds a nice touch to the overall result.

It deserved a higher score and placing than this but thanks for a lovely submission, Sid
