I too did a self portrait. I thought that you had too much headroom. You seemed to be sitting too low in the frame, for my liking

In a headshot I generally like to see the distance from the chin to the base of the frame, equal to or more than the distance from the eyes to the top of the frame.

These two images displayed that.

Hope this helps.

I thought that I could display these images, but maybe I can't.

I thought that this shot would definitely be in the top two. I am totally surprised that it came 19th.

The picture composition is perfect. The pair seem 100% focussed on the off camera subject.

I love this shot. Well done.

Superb shot. Love the expression, depicting that of a broken woman, looking into a broken mirror. Congratulations. If I wanted to be picky, I could say that the backdrop did not really do it for me. I guess I'm used to your white backdrops [Like that fishing shot]. Everything else absolutely perfect. Well done.

This should have won. This is a great shot.

I am just a beginner, but I know a good shot when I see one, and this is a superb shot.

For me, this is a very inspirational shot and has given me some great ideas.

When I looked at this image from a distance, it looked as though it was a comic book image, almost in the style of Norman Rockwell. As I moved closer, the image came to life.

I don't have a Wide Angle Lens yet, but this has inspired me to consider purchasing one, where I can use the lens distortion effectively.

The over sharpening was also inspirational, because secretly in my sub conscious this is the genre that I am attracted to most.

As soon as I saw your image, my boyhood dreams came to life.

Whether I can achieve this, is a different story. I am just starting out so I have a long way to go.

Well done. Great Image.

Hi Stefan,

This was shot on a low end Powershot and this is the highest resolution there is for this image.
Is that going to be a problem?

Haven't purchased the 650 yet nor the 18-55. I am still using my nephews 60D.
Are you suggesting wider than 18?
Are you suggesting a CANON 10-22 or a PRIME Wide Angle Lens?

Thanks h2 I always benefit from your comments.

I'd also crop off about the lower 1/4 to get rid of the centered waterline Yeah it does look a bit top heavy, even though I liked the foreground h2o Thought I'd bring your username into good use in describing water.

I see your point though with the centered waterline.
You are correct A610 does not shoot RAW. Yes this was a jpeg image.
Thanks, all the same I appreciate your comments.

When I first saw this image, a stupid story popped into my head based on the instant of capture where I felt that the birds were actually communicating with one another.

The image sparkled my imagination and my crazy little story called 'Searching for Love' goes like this.

"Saw your branch free, so I thought I'd drop by. Hope you don't mind, but I'm searching for a mate. I haven't had too much success, lately. I was attracted to that beautiful fur coat that you're wearing, it really goes well with your feathers. I don't want to sound pushy or anything but would you care to accompany me on a fly-by, tonight?"

You may not like the story, but I certainly like the image. Well composed with the perfect Depth of Field. Maybe some of the out of focus background called have been cleaned up a little in post processing.

Lovely shot, I love the expression on the fur coat bird. Good luck in the challenge.
