Right Angles, Right Curvesby JakeKurdsjukComment by Leo: I like this. I always wanted to take a bar pic with a backdrop of a wall full of liquor bottles.
Has multiple right angles. I always like seeing the human element, adds interest to the pic.
One of my top two picks for the challenge. |

Lehigh Meets The Delawareby JakeKurdsjukComment by Jules1x: *Greetings from the Critique Club*
Gorgeous image IMHO. Compositionally I love the seeing the bridge reflection, and the sort of gradient of tree building from few trees and prominent bridge on the right to more trees and disappearing bridge on the left I found very pleasing. I love the wispiness of the clouds. The trees almost come off with an HDR processed feel - which I think works well here.
Technically I also think this image is very good. I love the colors of your greens and blue. I'm not finding anything that I would change.
Your image certainly met the challenge. The only reason I can see it might not have scored higher is that many of the top scorers in the challenge had a lot of drama, colorwise/tone wise, in the image. Your blue appears quite smooth. I would be curious how this shot would look in B&W, I wonder if the some of the dynamic range would have stood out more in B&W.
But I still think you have a lovely shot. I can see this hanging as art.

Bathroom Selfieby JakeKurdsjukComment by Lydia: Originally posted by backdoorhippie: First off, thank you for all the comments. The fact that this hastily conceived and (IMO) over-processed image ranks as the 3rd highest rated (garnering the most 10's) and most commented on photo in my short tenure here tells me that I've either been thinking far too much about my photos, or I truly don't understand you all. ;) The only reason this got entered is because my original violated editing rules...
In response to the comments below...
- Yes, the sign to my left (photo right) really says that. It's actually a Mini Cooper advert
- This is a public bathroom at the Steel Stacks facility in Bethlehem, PA, and yes, there is a large mirror opposite the urinals, under which are a line of sinks not shown.
- No, I did not was my hands first, I took the picture first. Then I set about doing my business, washing my hands last.
- As for other people being in there, I do not believe there were at the time, but there were a couple false starts as I heard footsteps entering. I get a little gun shy when others are in there with me. And yes, the camera would have definitely freaked them out.
- Control has never been an issue. Besides I have a long strap.
Anyway, I'm glad I tickled a few fancies. |
Yeah... I've been here for many years and can never figure out us voters. *sigh*
BTW, IF you really want to thank your commenters, you'll check the "This comment was helpful" box under each one.
