Truck Before the Tracksby
JaguarComment by Jaguar: Thanks for all the comments. I've revisted this picture examining it's details, I would do the same thing again first, 'cause it was fun, second, because the lighting and outcome was very unique.
I like the picture because it has variety, it supports the rule of thirds, the sectioning was a way to develop another picture within a picture. Anyways, I've come up with a new name that would lend better to describing the picture.
The new name would be ... Racing the Train
The story behind the picture is this ... I was in the industrial area during the early evening walking around looking for a great perspective. I wanted to get this water tower that is perched on the high part of the city. There was a light rain and I found a unique setting and perspective using the straight train tracks running up to the water tower.
There were many pictures taken during that hour and I captured a few of them with cars passing by. This one (a truck) came out to be one of the most unique and intersting of all the pictures (that's of course subjective).
Because of the 3-4 second delay on the shutter to capture the lighting, a truck approached the train tracks, it slowed briefly, hence it's strong appearance at the left. When the driver was then prepared to continue across the tracks, it sped up and raced across the tracks. Therefore, the blur of lights streaming across give a "dip" to the light stream.
I know I wouldn't be able to do another just like it, I've tried. =)
Thanks again for the comments and encouragement.
