Thanks Tony,
This wasn`t taken with the 20D...it was the trusty old Fuji that churned this one out :) |

Solid Foundationsby geewhyComment: The wide angle lens has made this look further away than it really was Lewis.
This was taken from the road leading into Stirling from the Raploch which you can walk up quite easily. |

Hiding since 1891by tyt2000Comment: Surprised to see the average finish for this pic...I thought that it was one of the better offerings..very simple and uncluttered which usually adds to it`s appeal. |

Businessby jjbeguinComment: I didn`t vote in this challenge but if I had this would have received my highest score.
Another beauty from the "Master" of candids. |

The Janitorby tyt2000Comment: The leading lines give this it`s power for me..the tonal treatment adds the finishing touch.
Great image. |

Learn to live WITHOUT it more oftenby BradComment: I just can`t understand how this image scored an average of 5.39
It fits the challenge theme (more obviously than my submission did) and is a class apart (again comparing to mine.)
I expected this to ribbon and if not, then definitely top ten...am I losing the plot? |

Black-capped Chickadeeby coolharComment: Lovely pic..similar to our "Great Tit" by the look of things.
Surprised by the "Bokeh" on show at F8..gives the image a "painterly" feel.
Well captured. |

Mechanical lock gates by geewhyComment: Originally posted by Halim: where is the mechanical show?...it is a water fall show....i don't understand how u got that rattings with out realy showing any related subject...sorry but that is how i see it...thanks for taking my harsh words |
I can understand how you see it this way, I left a comment on Sandymaya`s submission (which also depicted the same system of handcranked lock gates but concentrated more fully on the winding gear) saying that I found it a very tough choice on how to compose the image.
I finally decided to go with this set up which shows the full system with the added attraction of the water cascade.
The mechanism for controlling the water level is shown more fully on the distant gates. (The small black boxlike objects with spindles attached)
Paul....thanks for the clarification (much appreciated). Message edited by author 2005-01-06 05:12:31. |
