His camouflage colourings mean he doesn't stand out against the drab background, especially because the strong light is creating so many shadows from the rubble and branches. I would also suggest the composition might be better if he were looking into rather than out of the frame.

Good photo but there is something about the exposure on the scorpion.... its a little hard to see... maybe a fill flash would have helped.
