Fun items - a quick tweak with levels would help. Sharpen a tad more, and, um, remove the hair in the lower right? :-)

Cute image, although the grayish background doesn't seem to fit the subject well.

In my opinion there's potentially a great image here, but as it is I don't find it that compelling. I think that the white isn't bright enough. I also think that you could have cropped it much tighter at the top to make the image into three distinct areas - black/white/black.

With a bit brighter white (maybe use some dodging) this could have worked much better.

Don't tell anyone but I'm not a big fan of pet or kid shots BUT this is great. This fits the challenge to a "T" and I love the expression on the cats face.
I also think it's cool that you have a black and white image that's in color. I don't know if that makes any sence but I like it. Well done.

On my monitor, this seems just slightly soft in focus. Although I do see some areas of sharp detail. The arrangement, or shot angle could have been different.... displaying more wood grain detail. The image is a little flat. Needs a richer tonal range.

The burned spots are a bit too visible... sadly. Otherwise not too bad. More contrast could help a good bit though.

Avoid obvious black blotches in the background when you're post processing the photos. Use the eyedropper tool to sample the background rather than just assuming it's truly black.
