This was a good entry, focus was perfect, as was framing, and the processing is just right I think; good saturation and contrast but not over done at all.

I find with macro if you have a hard time focusing (reading your description), using manual focus then rocking slightly and burst shooting should always get a few in focus.

I think the one thing that let you down was the angle the ant is at, it's hard to make out what exactly it is top down like this. Had the ant been side on or some other angle I think you'd have got closer to a 6 or above.

To me the processing makes the scene look dark and ominous, definitely not a paradise.

It's a rather common scene on DPC so I find this image a little less interesting than I otherwise would. Still, I won't mark down for that and the framing is nice. Just a touch over-saturated for my taste.

I think when photographing an object the frame should be set up to give maximum impact, perhaps showing the object in relation to its environment, or a close up for a more abstract feel. If it's a straight on shot then the photograph only becomes a lesser representation of the object featured and since this is a photography competition I can't give marks for just being shown an interesting object, sorry.

Looks like the clarity slider got stuck, sorry. The scene would be a lot better with less severe processing; as it stands, it doesn't look remotely real. A shame as clearly the buildings are interesting and in an interesting location.

Sorry, I'm not keen on the HDR-like processing. I think the scene is lacking too; the architecture (from this pov) isn't interesting enough to stand on its own, and there is nothing else happening in the scene to draw my eye.

Too much processing. I think there's a trend to try to make images look more exciting by putting them through an HDR process. It just doesn't work for me, sorry.

Just way, way, way over processed, sorry. The image I'm sure would have looked a lot better without any processing.

I think a ball or similar in the frame would help a lot, without one for reference the scene's a little confused I feel. I also accept that you have to work within the limitations of your equipment, but the grain is quite distracting, perhaps more could be done to remove it in post?

Sorry, the processing is too much for me here. It just looks gaudy and unreal.
