Barn at Sunsetby TooCoolComment: TC - I like the composition of this shot, and the drama in the sky. It could be better in the foreground, in my opinion, if you were to brighten the barn a little and the snow a little more. Then maybe add some warmth to these foreground elements, bringing the color in harmony with the red under the clouds. |

Glacier Point Driftwood 2by NeilComment: I agree, and I find the driftwood is a bit dark for it to be considered the subject. The background is beautiful!
Maybe, just take the background down on brightness a tiny bit, then invert the selection and brighten the foreground slightly, or deselect and brighten the whole thing? (I just played with a copy of it a little in PSE 3, and it seems possible, but it might not be the effect you want.)
For competition, the picture almost stands on its own as is, if you leave "driftwood" out of the title. |

Impressionist Vase 1by NeilComment: I like this effect, and I feel like it's really close to impressionistic, even though the motion is obvious. What I think makes it better is that the base of the vase doesn't display any of the motion blur. That seems to anchor it, or make it harder, while the blur on the flowers softens them, and that's good. The dark background is a negative, I think, but I'm sure the lack of light bouncing around contributed to the positive I mentioned above. Overall, probably above the 75th percentile, had it been in the recent Impressionism challenge, in my opinion. |

Tower Bridgeby redmoonComment: This is a nice high-key treatment of this landmark. Some people wll dislike the "blow-outs" but in this instance, it appeals to me. |

The Severn Bridgeby WobbleComment: Look out! They're all driving on the wrong side!!
Nicely exposed but would have liked a sharper focus. |

Turn at the Dead Treeby SkipComment: Turn right or left?
The colors, composition, and lighting are pleasing. The focus seems to be a little off, and then oversharpened, but that might be from resizing & saving to web. |

WWII Vetransby Dim7Comment: with the subjects being so small, and in fact a minority in the picture, it subtracts from the impact |
