Bill's flowerby aliquiComment: it's a dinner plate dhalia, which if it had been cut with a longer stem could have allowed for a bit more experimentation.
the light on the flower is quite good. the vase is a distraction. the hot spots on it, and the bubbles on the inside of the water. ( you can avoid the bubble by letting the water sit for a bit, or using a Q-tip to brush them away ). i've also heard boiling the water first will eliminate the bubbles, but i've not tried that.
another thing to try if you have a 3rd light would be to blast light on a background which will bounce back thru the glass, and help with the hot spots from the other lights ( this light would be below the table top aiming up ), as well as back light the flower. think about a complimentary color background to accentuate the flowers color. you could probably make it work with two flashes, and a reflefctor. one flash on the BG, one for the main light on the subject, and a reflector to bounce back the main light.
the BG light would likely be set to about twice the power as the main light. but that depends alot on distance to subject, and BG color, among other things.
nice work.

Harmonic Cheersby william88Comment:
that's sort of my guess as well. glasses fixed, thicker than water liquid, and a quick drop and shift of the mirror.

anyway - congrats, i like it. |

Inversionby JulietNNComment: good use of the zones of light to draw the eye around the image. nit pick. subject being lopped off on the left.

Count Duckula's Endby gyabanComment: do duck draculas need to be stabbed in the ass instead of the heart ?
or did you figure the duck being so small the stake would puncture all internal organs :)
seriously - though - nice photo. very creative. congrats. |

Interfacial Reflectionsby PaulComment: very nice. looking close - the bubble makes the image - outstanding - because its not reflected. at least for me. a subtle hint at how it was made. Message edited by author 2010-11-28 17:26:24. |

gotta love VTby soupComment: yeah it was snowing like crazy - but it was ice that caused the issues. one of those times where it goes from clear to ice in a split second.
i dunno - maybe the 100th time i've been there, and stayed on the road.. |

You'all Come Back Now, Ya Hearby BAMartinComment: Y'all ? :)
i was hoping to enter a hot air balloon shot too. but the weather is just starting to get good enough for them to fly.
i think with some more PP - the juxtapostion of the spikey cactus and the balloons could have become more of a theme.
