Normally I don't care for photos of a written page (in any competition) as I think it's just a lack of imagination. But your title made the difference becasue it "made" the glasses and book the actual study being done. (Hope this makes sense). And, obviously, you nailed it technically. I gave it a 9 only because I think that with experimenting with focal length you could have gotten a bit more of the text in focus, up front there. I think the hard focus area needed to extend to the '2 arctan' line as that area is still very close to the eyes natural focal area when viewing a new image. Out-of-focus past the leading edge of the glasses is fine. I agonized over this one for a while (I rarely write comments). Very good photo, very pro. I could see this as part of an ad in Scientific American or something. I'm sure others won't feel the same, but I like it.

This is one of those pics that - as it wrote to the screen, I said- "top 3" before I saw the entire image. I said it when the bug was half revealed. Usually that much color and saturation would bother me, but the grey gently pulls it off. Also the red background is soft rather than harsh which helps. Cute bug. Oh, well, it's a 10 and I.m sure you know it !!

1 point off (9 instead of 10) for not putting a spot of light right at the tip of the 'dropper' to throw the vision to a solid focal point, which it does lack..just a sparkle or a star (would be hard to do, I'm sure). Actually, that is the only fault... no strong dynamic focal point. Very good photo otherwise.

I would have liked a little more light, especially in the center zone. Giving an 8 anyway

Sorry, only a 9 (LOL). The focus seemed off a tad, otherwise this is it...
