normally I would complain about tonal range here, with the shot being too gray, but in this case, I think it helps the shot and adds mood. There is a dreamy quality to this shot that I like. I'm rating it lower than I think it merits, however, because the bright spot on the ice on the right really annoys me and breaks the mood. I think, had this shot been cropped to remove that flaw, this would have been one of the better images in the challenge.

Good capture of the ice - lighting and focus is very good. Ice is not easy to photograph well. Sad feeling photo - like a lost toy. B&W contributes very well to this mood.

True, but composition is a bit too cluttered. the paper art (origami?) and photos on page distract attention from subject.

The candlelighting really gives these shot a great atmosphere. Absolutely beautiful shadows and reflections make the image come alive. This would make for a great inspirational greeting card or postcard.
