Can't Read My Poker Face
by hopefulcrafty1

Comment:
Waaay too devious for a poker face, man! A bit of burn on those cards with a bit of dodge on your eyes and face would have brought my attention up to your face and away from the cards. This would have enhanced your concept of the "poker face," i.e. distracting me from the cards with your wily expression instead of being drawn towards the glare of the cards in your hand. Be careful with reflections of curved, glossy surfaces when using a flash or correct them PP.

A slightly higher EV and shift of the frame to the right would have both balanced this picture, made it pop, and wouldn't have chopped anybody prominent in half.

Great control of the distance between the subjects in order to generate the proper image through the liquid while maintaining correct perspective for the contact point.

I hope you either got this on the first shot or had plenty of bottles. Either way, I'm sure you didn't mind the extra excuse to open them!

The intensity of that gaze is palpable. Excellent lighting, while all elements of the image are easily visible the focus is immediate and at a level appropriate for the subject. Like opposite poles of a magnet, my eyes are drawn towards his.

Though this does not necessarily apppeal to me, I can certainly believe that there is an appreciative audience for this image. Since I cannot decide to either vote per my own predilictions or for what I can see artistic value in despite my tastes, I'm afraid I must doom this to the median.

This is interesting because I'm not sure what the intention of this image is: are we paying attention to the photographers and their obvious intensity, thus a commentary on what determines fleeting fame, or is the lady unintentionally OOF? One tells a story, the other is an accident, unfortulately I can't settle on which this is supposed to be because neither intent is obvious. Of course, that could be my own shortcoming of interpretation.

Is this one of those Thai rice paper lamp/balloons? That looks like fun! A bit OOF, however, and either shooting from a lower angle or allowing the balloon to achieve a higher elevation could have increased the impresssion of this balloon's escape.

Lighting is good (certainly better than I could have done!), but this scene would have been more believable if the bottles were actually opened.

Comment:
Nice concept. A bit of spilled champange on the drop would have made this complete, along with some burning of some highlights (particularly on the back drop).
