Comment by Natator:
The composition here is spot on. Very nicely done indeed. I also like how the lighting, with the shadows under the cards, looks realistic rather than too many studio lights faking it. Great shot.

nice shot, but shame the fingers are so out of focus when the cards are pin sharp.

i would've either liked to see slightly more dof or slightly less - the dof in the picture makes the chips just sharp enough to attract attention, but just blurry enough to detract appeal. that, and if you could have smoothed out the cloth between the a and n (looks like a little bump or rise), would have improved this photo for me.

Comment by JC_Homola:
Doesn't quite work. THe focus is off. Compostition is good and I like the use of red w/ what is basically a black and white shot.
I also think that Sun-Tzu's work was much more about subtleties, planning and taking advantage of propitious moments. This image would be better suited for a Steven King type novel. 4

Ohhhh For the want of a little more depth of field.... and bright red blood.. I like the concept and the contrast, althought I cannot look at it for long with the focus like it is.

hmm...feel that the art of war and the knife stained with blood does not come together... No doubt they are tools of fighting...but it is a bit far-off for me
Would like it in perfect focus though

Comment by adine:
I like the angle of the knife almost sticking out of the fram three-dimensionally. I guess the shallow DOF contibutes to that, but I'd like to see more of the knife "sharp" so to speak, and I'd afraid the blood looks too much like jam, which kind of destroys the fantasy...I'd like to see a re-shoot of this.
