Dirt Devil in Hyperdriveby Alex_EuropaComment by bobnospum: Cool ideas and I do like all the wild colors. There is an abstract quality that is kind of neat. The composition needs something as the dirt devel tip ends up totally centered. The DOF is a bit narrow as well. Did you try any with wider DOF to see what the effect is? |

Dirt Devil in Hyperdriveby Alex_EuropaComment by vawendy: I'm not sure I care that much for the picture. Perhaps it's because there's so much pattern to the carpet--I think a simpler carpet would have created a much stronger picture. And for some reason, the orange on the dirt devil is distracting (I would have been tempted to crop it off.) But I love the creativity! Excellent job of thinking outside the box and yet meeting the challenge! 7 |

Nickelbackby Alex_EuropaComment by JulietNN: hi from teh shot club
I am really surprised that this finished so low. I liked this very much.
Artistically, it is very clever. Technically there are a couple of things that are wrong. I think for this challenge having the face of the coin showing up a little more would have helped. There is a lot of grain and some sensor dust going on.
One tip for the blac and white is to saturate or use selective colours and play around with those before you change it to black and white, you will be surprised at what details come out this way. Unsharp mask would have also helped to bring out some details.
the shallow DOF is a great choice for this.
Yo-Spiff gave you an excellent comment below.
I would love to see you redo this shot. |
