Target Practiceby Stephie3041Comment by Leo: I'm having difficulty with this one. Both the EOTech and the silhouette are just about the same size, both are out of focus. Which one is the main subject of this image or are both the main subject? As a suggestion to make this image stronger, maybe differentiate the EOTech or the silhouette by one being larger than the other (the larger assumed to be the main subject). Looking at this longer, I'm thinking the silhouette is the main subject and the rifle (therefore the sighting system) is the just the tool to take care of the threat (silhouette). If that's the case, then perhaps position the camera back farther to make the EOTech less prominent in size and bringing the silhouette closer to make it more prominent??? Well for what its worth... In any case, I like the concept for the challenge. |

Deaths Grinby Stephie3041Comment by salmiakki: Greetings from the Critique Club
Have to confess my first reaction to this was - ooh, gross. But that's only because of the decay and nothing to do with the photograph, so you got a strong reaction which is something. Interestingly you do not have any 1s.
It was an interesting interpretation of the challenge topic and perhaps a few voters didn't think it actually met the challenge.
I do think the composition probably hurts this quite a bit. I think it is framed too tightly and should probably have been taken at a wider angle to give some context.
The image itself is not really 100% in focus either. I think for this to work you would need to have shot it so the whole of the skull was in focus. The way it is now it looks like a mistake not intentional.
Just some things to consider for the next challenge.
