*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

A well executed macro that needs the title to fulfil the challenge brief.

It's a great macro you've captured here with plenty of interesting detail and good sharp focus where its needed, on the eye. The surrounding flower and crop isolate it in an attractive beneficial way. There is great detail in the bee and its hairy body it makes for lots of interesting detail to take in.

In terms of the challenge the image relies totally upon the title, I wouldn't know how you begin to recognise happiness in a bee! And we also depend upon your title to even know that it is alive! So, although it is a great macro I would imagine these are the reasons why it didn't score better during the challenge.

Nicely done, thanks for your submission and apologies for the delayed critique, as they say, 'better late than never', or at least I hope it is, Sid

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

A striking image that meets the challenge

Well done in capturing this unique moment that would not be without its difficulties. Any critique I am able to offer mainly concerns the composition and processing as opposed to technique which seems to have enabled you to capture it well and in any case the likelihood of being able to repeat this again are slim in the extreme I would imagine.

The biggest thing about the composition is the foreground, because it is a sillhouette without detail just shape it is not adding anything to the overall image, Its a shame you couldn't have a more distinctive shape to replace it with I think it would have put the image on another level. The other improvement to composition would be to move the sun further to the left to give more room for the moon I just feel it is too central. And finally, the processing there appears to be some evidence of banding perhaps the jpeg compression was too much?

All in all a momentous event well captured, thanks for submitting, Sid

Hi guys!

Thanks for all the nice comments and thoughts, really appreciate them!

The camera was set on the right date but a wrong year... the solar eclipse it self is not proof enough and of course the same rules apply to everyone.

It's a good reminder to check your dates when entering DPC challenges ;)

Thanks for the uplifting spirits, keep on rocking!

I really liked this one better, but its a shame you didn't learn your lesson about the date since your Fs entry has 2014 on it also :(

How on earth was he supposed to learn that lesson in a timely manner? He obviously didn't realise the error until after submitting both images into challenges.
. I'm sorry I thought he got the first DQ ahead of his submission to the FS, in which he may of had time to withdraw it but obviously he didn't, shame.

Congrats on the red. Phenomenal image. What on earth sort of temperature did your model have to endure?
