Veinsby DrakeComment: Hello from the ***Critique Club***
First, the technical bits... Your exposure is pretty much right on. You're not blowing out any highlights and you're not losing anything in the shadows. That said, overall, the image seems to lack contrast. It's a good thing to try lighting stuff different way, but shooting light through the subject, in this case, didn't work as well as another approach might.
From a composition standpoint, the main vein of the leaf draws the eye in and then right out again. There's really not much to keep the eye interested in looking at the photo.
Overall, I'd say it was a good thing to try, but not quite there.
Keep shooting!

A Different Type of Cropby mbrutus2009Comment: There are balloons in this shot?
Oh look, there they are, I was looking at something else...
Anyway, this is a good idea and a pretty good image to boot, I like the idea. You're lucky to have such a model. Hopefully, you can shoot her again.
On the technical side, a reflector or a touch of flash to fill some light into the shadows on the model (and the balloons too) would help make it really pop. Just don't overdo it or it starts looking cheesy. While I like the idea with the title and the setting, the fruit trees in the BG should be more prominent/evident. Perhaps getting closer to one of the trees to make the fruit bigger, using only orange/yellow balloons and/or having the model wear orange/yellow to tie the three elements together.
Anyway, that's my $0.02, YMMV |

Poisedby TransitComment: Tremendously surreal.
The only thing that might improve it would be to have removed the scuffs and other marks on the pedestal...could have just used black spraypaint, but maybe easy to do later in post |

Cooperby Spork99Comment: I was pretty sure this would get a suck-ass score and I was right...whatever, I knew this shot wasn't really DPC-esque when I submitted it. Anyway, I like it and the print is gorgeous. What else matters? Message edited by author 2010-04-09 16:48:31. |

Beyond the doorby MephistoComment: I like how the angle you've chosen makes your model look almost like a giant, over-sized for the building, making them look even more out of place.
Either that or your model really is huge or the building really small or both...anyway, I like that aspect of it as well. |
