Farewell Sunby LevTComment: I wish that dark spot in the middle of the sky wasn't there. Still solid. |

Dessert anyone?by tjbel05Comment: On the plus side, this morsel looks really tasty and the exposure is right on.
This really needs some food styling. The rough texture of the white filling and the nuts stuck to it on the right side are distracting as are the two chocolate shavings with the OOF bits of nut behind it that look like they fell off. If you want to present it on chocolate shavings put down a whole plate of them. Personally, I'd have shot it wider, on a nice plate presented like you would for a recipe book and used a more diffuse light. I don't mean to harp on you too much, food photography is HARD to do well and this really is a solid try. |

Graphicsby mariucaComment: The backside is almost always the least interesting side of a person. Who a person really is is in their face. Pics like this, especially of people in groups outside the mainstream always strike me as sort of predatory, like you're sneaking a picture of them instead of talking to them like people. Maybe I'm wrong about the reality of the circumstances, but that's the impression I get. |

Bring it Onby MarkBComment: I can't add much to what's been said already. The lighting on the subject's right is too strong, the left side of his hair and the black part of his uniform have melted into the black BG and the main light is emphasizing the jersey, not his face. The pose is OK, but I don't feel qualified to offer advice there. I think the crop here is a bit too tight, but it's not terrible. Message edited by author 2013-03-20 10:34:24. |
