Gold, by Torrenteby willemComment: Looks like an advertising shot! High praise. The light trick is great, the background and lighting are perfect, and the color is gorgeous. Nice job. |

"Will you marry me?"by jonpinkComment: I like the stark black & white of this, but I wish the setup was better. This is a wedding ring, not an engagement ring, so it's not really what would be used for a proposal, and it's being placed on a right hand, not a left hand like an engagement ring would be. Those minor things throw off the "surprise" story and make this look like someone putting a ring on their own opposite hand. |

The Icky Sticky Frogby SimplicityComment: I just HAD to look and see if this was a real book title, and I'm glad I did! there's a whole series! anyway, about the photo, I like it, though if you had control over where the frog was a more interesting wall like brick might have served to provide more interest and contrast. the lighting also seems somewhat harsh; a softer and warmer light instead of a flash would avoid that. |

Big Shotby CasmyerComment: a literal interpretation would be a large shotglass, preferably full. this looks like a regular size shotglass. I'm also not sure wha the thing on the left is, and I don't think black and white is a good choice with props like deeply colored whiskey and a rose. |

The Joy Of Cookingby GeneralEComment: softer lighting (not the flash) would make this much less stark and more welcoming. diffused lighting avoids such harsh shadows and the blown-out highlights like on the metal pan. the emotion and fun of the picture come through but the flash detracts. would also like a little more attention to wardrobe; a simple shirt without the "san francisco" would have been better. |

microserfsby space amoebaComment: wonderful book and a funny interpretation of the title. plus, it fits the challenge for a change; this interpretation of the title works even without knowing the Lego connection in the story. nice job! |

"A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swiftby MiahComment: this is about the content of the essay, not an interpretation of the title. those who haven't read it won't get it, and that's not the point of this challenge. |

The Shinning(Here's Johnny)by spacebrushComment: it's spelled Shining, not Shinning. and this is more about the content of the story, not an interpretation of the book title as the challenge required. |
