The Ravenby jodis_evaComment: Great silhouette effect against the sunset (sunrise?). Exposure is perfect and the bird is what makes this photo. |

An Ordinary Duckby trainComment: At first I was going to say this is a rather ordinary photo, but I do rather like how you've captured the ripples emanating out. A polarizer might have helped lessen the haze int he water at the top. I'd have also preferred to see the stray feather on the right side of the image cloned out. I say cloned rather than cropped, because cropping would have lost the symmetery of the ripples. The feather does seem to break the symmetry and the otherwise clean circles. |

On the Wingby jbsmithanaComment: Wow... great tone control. The left wing *almost* gets lost in the background, so I hope you're not getting clobbered by users with uncalibrated monitors. Kudos for such a great capture of this bird in flight, too. |

Seagullby whiterookComment: Sorry, but this feels rather like a snapshot to me. The roadside guardrail is a huge distraction and the saturation on the blue and/or cyan looks like it has been pushed up way too far, which tends to bring out sensor noise besides giving the ocean a "fake" look. The photo definitely meets the challenge, but it does nothing beyond that. A great photo should usually stand on its own. |

Hummer at restby ShutterHackComment: Nice photo, but it feels crowded on the left and right sides relative to the top and bottom. If you had the option of pulling out further I might have liked to see that, otherwise a more square crop by bringing the top and bottom closer may have worked equally well. I also think the bright purple inner border is a slight distraction. |

Childs Playby JudiComment: I like the motion you've captured, and the double-rainbow, but I'm afraid the post-processing gives the children almost a CGI look. Still a good shot overall. |

Vintage Ornamentsby KarenNfldComment: Very nice photo, Karen... I love the dreamy feel to it... the duotone was a great choice. Congrats on the well-deserved red blue ribbon! |
