Kitty in the Underwear Drawerby pollypanda2000Comment by TallPaul: Its very seldom that I would award a 1 so as I am about to I thought it polite to explain. Broadly speaking, in this challenge I would award a 4 simply for entering something with a person or animal in it, an extra 1 or 2 for it being obvioulsy candid (by my interpretation) 1 or 2 for technical merit (Composition, exposure etc) and then 1 or 2 for the wow factor or creativity. Looking at your picture and starting at the 4 I immediately have to remove 1 for the fact that Kitty is starring straight at you (not candid IMO), 1 for the strange colour cast (tungsten) and at least 1 for the date stamp being left on the picture. As that only leaves 1 I can't then deduct another 1 for the excessive noise or the soft focus.
I hope that explains why I left you a 1 all of which is irrelevant if you were trying for the brown but if not I hope it is of some help for furture challenges. |

Hide and Seekby pollypanda2000Comment by Steef: this is adorable. you've captured good texture and a very fun shot of your pet. unfortunately, it seems like there were problems when you resized or compressed the picture for dpc. that made things seem a little fuzzy around the edges and pixelated, so it sort of looks like a blown up cell phone pic. i use photoshop to resize and save for web, which gives a lot of control (you can change the quality until it's just barely under the file size needed). a free alternative that i've used before is google's picasa. it has some photo editing capability, and allows you to resize and select a custom amount of compression. you can read more here |

Hide and Seekby pollypanda2000Comment by drewhosick: Seems very pixilated and not sharp. However interesting to see you got a shot when you got the cat peeking out from behind the broom. |

Hide and Seekby pollypanda2000Comment by steve100: a 2 from me , sorry , would have preferred you concentrate on the textues of the broom , I can see that this is where the major focus is , having the cat in the frame adds nothing to the shot. |
