this is an interesting choice of blue colours? Why did you go with blue and how did you do it??

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy):

Positives: Fascinating image - it took me a second to see this image for what is was. First of all in looked like false colour satellite imagery of decommissioned aircraft in the desert! I then realised it was bird foot prints in wet sand (at least I think it is!). The false colour (or is it negative) is very effective though. The colours are great, it really is a lovely blue and I like how the yellow/green appears to stand in relief.

Critical thoughts: Not many, I like this - I wonder how it would look if the image was extended in the 'Y' axis into a square crop, I think the colours might have looked even bolder if it took up more of my screen.

Overall: A really pretty and unconventional image.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Landscape photography is much more difficult than most people realize. The scene before you in this photograph is rather breathtaking, but what seems to happen here is that the image itself doesn't communicate that level of awe to the viewer. I have been in this same situation many times. I look around at my surroundings and I'm simply overwhelmed with what I see and feel. My camera, on the other hand, can't seem to recreate the feel of the breeze on my face, the smells in the air, and the adrenaline rush that I feel while standing before the subject. I suppose an image like this will always have more personal appeal to the photographer who experienced the photograph than to an arbitrary viewer such as myself who looks through the digital window of my computer screen and tries to recreate the same experience.

Wow, I find myself staring at the grandeur. It's almost a disjointed feel, like two completely separate scenes. I might have played with the contrast a bit in post-processing to see if the colours might "pop".
