A competant black and white nicely composed and presented. The very light touch of grain adds some impact from an artistic standpoint. The slightly soft focus is very dream like and can be viewed from an impression standpoint in a variety of ways - very interesting effect. Well done.

More a image of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself.

Nick, if I'd gotten a comment as rude as the first one you received on this image, I'd probably sell my camera. *smile* But, let me encourage you to stick with it. Ignore people who are just being rude, and listen to the contructive criticism in comments. We ALL start off where you are. I try to use DPC like the game of golf. Get your average and then compete with yourself at your own 'handicap' score. Just look at each image you submit's score and compare that to your current average. Is it even just a little bit better? Or somewhere in the same range? As long as you're generally raising your average... then it's all good.

I can't wait to see your next entry!

Nice title... yet still... this is a photograph of a fire hydrant. And it's not in great focus. *sorry*

Interesting shot, and cute title. The shot could use more contrast.

I don't think the black and white enhances anything here... I also think a different POV would have made this more interesting.
