Migration Interuptedby ellamayComment: Wow. If I came across this shot in National Geographic I'd be pausing to gaze at the page and drink in every detail. This is fantastic. It tells a story, I love that it is in color, yet almost monochrome, and I feel I'm right there watching this. Definitely a top 10 contender. Congrats! |

FLOWERby K2BDVComment: Orchids are beautiful flowers and do make great subjects. I like that you took this outside, is it even a wild orchid? I think your focus is what lets you down most with this shot. I would like to b e able to see every detail in the petals and I can't. Overall, the colors could pop a little more, too, but that is easily fixable in post-processing. A larger image (submit as large as you can on DPC, it often helps) would also be better. |

Open Windowby RockBruiseComment: This photo has lots of potential ... great composition, colors, contrast, unfortunately it seems it suffered greatly during post-processing. The sky looks very patchy/pixelated, likely due to compression. The overall image is only about 50k, you can use up to 3x as much for your submissions here and that will help the image quality. The stone of the tower looks very smoothed out, as if you've used Neatimage or something similar too much. So, I would get out the original and re-edit it. I bet you'll end up with a fantastic shot. Hope this kind of advice helps. If it doesn't, or you don't agree, feel free to ignore my comment. :) |

Doveby owenComment: Love the details you captured in the feather. Colors are great, too, overall a really good shot. One thing I would have probably done is to clone out the reflection in the dove's eye. Other than that ... I would've left it exactly as it is :) |

Souvenir from Stockholmby PascalComment: My favorite city :) I used to live about 15 mins walk from this spot. Lovely composition and the coloring works surprisingly well. |

Many Glaciers, Montanaby BeetleComment: I think this image, while nice, could be stronger if you cropped more off the sky. You have a beautiful leading line with the shore on the right, and lots of interest in the mountain range and its reflection. The sky doesn't add too much IMO. Cropping it would move the waterline more toward the rule of thirds, which, makes this image stronger. Alternatively, if you feel that is too much water, leaving the sky and cropping so that the horizon is exactly in the middle works, too. I guess at the moment the image seems a little indecisive to me since you could go either way. If that makes sense. |

Golden raysby LalliSigComment: I wonder if these are the same ones: //www.pbase.com/franziskalang/image/17465324 I think they are . What a difference the season and angle makes. I really really like yours. The sky in the background is fantastic, as is the exposure of the houses and mountains. Congrats on a wonderful entry! |

A Toast to the Kids of the Worldby JPRComment: Couldn't figure out what was in the background until I read your title. I think the image would've been a stronger one without that glass and hand. Black and white works well here, like the tonality range. |
