tres right, but n'est pas very interesting either. You should have used a black table for the creature to stand on, there is an nasty cast to the eyes.

Good ideas are usually very simple. So I'm voting for the idea, the photo doesn't have much interest. Perhaps a human subject writing the "Dear John" would have added.

why the blue papper it is asteticaly not as clean an as if the paper had been white
also you have a very film grain like pixelation which i think hurts the over all image
(nice hand writting though)
