Brilliance Retake: Mirror Image (Negative Image Challenge)by spistoleComment: I've decided to go through and give a comment to each user who registered on my birthday (April 6) of this year... perhaps I'll go back to other years as well. Anyway... this is quite interesting... I wonder what it might have looked like with a much more narrow crop on the sides? Very artsy. :-) |

Abstract Candiesby diner24Comment: I've decided to go through and give a comment to each user who registered on my birthday (April 6) of this year... perhaps I'll go back to other years as well. Anyway... This is a really interesting effect!! I'm not sure exactly how this was done, but I LOVE the colors you got here.. this would make for some fantastic wrapping paper :-). Fast Funby FirstyComment: I'm going to comment on this as a sports photo... because I think that's how I can give the most helpful comments. As a panning shot this isn't bad. your subject is pretty clear and your background is mostly blurry... so in that respect you've achieved the first step. Here are some areas that you might be able to fix or might help you get more dynamic photos... 1) Lower your shutter speed - I can't see your specs so I don't know what your speed was here... but I think you can still lower it. 2) was the ground actually sloping? AKA straighten your horizon line... I would say probably that the horizon line to go with here would be the back top fence... but I wasn't there so I can't be sure... 3) try to find the place to set up that has the least possible background noise... this might not be possible all the time but keep it in mind. 4) with sports (unless it is ballet dancing or something that is supposed to look petite) get down and shoot up if possible... this will make your subject look bigger and more imposing, something that is desireable in the world of sports... this may also help you to alleviate noisy backgrounds...
Hope this helps! Good luck... - 6 - |

The Midas Touchby idnicComment: The fact that you cut off her ankles and feet really bothers me here... I would suggest either a whole body shot or a much tighter shot of her upper body and face... especially with that blob of gold fabric in the bottom right hand corner... looks like you did a lot of prepping for this shot... I wonder who many images you actually took? I think you might have been able to come out with something better. don't forget to try different angles... and to just shoot as much as possible. |

Golden Streaksby LERtasticComment: great subject to fit the challenge... she has beautiful eyes and the hair just works here... I think however you could have made a better image here than you have. for one... watch out for your background... you have a (bed post?) going right through her head...which takes away from the image... also even if this is a candid... you might have stepped one step to the left or at least gotten down or up instead of what looks like a fairly straight on shot. - 6- |

Puttin' on the Ritzby cheegirlComment: Adorable... wish his little toe wasn't cut off... and the ridges of what he is sitting on are a little bothersome... otherwise... I think this is so cute :-). -8- |

Cleopatraby LalliSigComment: While I see how you could get Cleapatra from this... I totally get a sense of 'Goldfinger' the James Bond film... although perhaps not enough people would have gotten the refernce? Regardless... Nicely done... decent lighting and I love the hint of blue in her eyes. -9- |

S-T-I-T-C-H-E-S by ShermyComment: very weird! I like your use of blank space. I understand what you were going for with the needle and thread in her mouth... and I see the need for it... but to be truthful the fact that the thread leads my eye out of the picture really bothers me - both in the thumbnail and the main image... I also would have liked to have perhaps seen her eyes not have that goldish tone. Nice sharp image though... imaginative... fun. -8- |
