Totally fluked into this challenge.

I was out back in the farmer's field behind my house on a perfectly crisp, clear winter Saturday morning. Had my 2 dogs with me. It had just snowed the previous day, so everything was pristine in the field. The sky was free of clouds and the sun was on its way up. I took a few pictures trying to get a nice sun star between various trees, but then I took this exact same shot, sans doggos, and created an exceptional sun star. Called the dogs over, got them to sit and then waited to see what pose they might be willing to offer up. I got them looking at me, looking opposite directions and then finally this one. Got home, did my edits and showed my wife this pic. She loved...loved it and has already shown me where the print should hang. Got me kind of excited.

I have not been on DPC since my last challenge in 2012. I sort of lost my mojo and sold all my gear in 2017-18. But this past June a life altering moment happened, and I realized how much I was missing my 'real' camera and the art & memories it helped me create. So with this photo in hand, I wondered over to DPC to check if there might be a challenge to submit it to. And wouldn't you know there is Lens Flare III. Talk about perfect timing :) Got my membership renewed and submitted.

It's an interesting picture, in that with the pp I've turned a morning shot into more of an evening shot with the sun looking like a star. Which is fitting, because both dogs have 'star' names. Nova (Supernova) and Stark (Star-k). They are both performance dogs, so my wife gave them flashy names.

Hope you enjoy the pic.

Edit:
Wow!! My first Blue Ribbon. I’m so excited and happy to be back 🙂

Congratulations on the blue. It's a stunning shot! (I love your outtake even more, but this one does trump it as far as the flare goes.)
