    Biography: I have been going on nature walks for years. About five years ago, with the encouragement of a friend and the loan of his Nikon Coolpix 950, I began taking photographs. I started with mushrooms, a subject of great interest to me, and had some pleasing results with macro photography. After a few years of using Coolpix, I began to be interested in birds. I couldn't photograph them with the 950. I found out about digiscoping, but it was too complex for me, and too heavy, and too cumbersome. Then Canon cam out with its Digital Rebel XT. My husband game me that camera and I bought a Phoenix 100-400mm lens and started taking photographs of birds. This past Christmas I acquired an additiona camera, the Rebel XTi, and a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS lens, which I continue to use to document my walks through the central Illinois River valley.
