Biography: I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera memories are of a little 110 I started out with and my disappointment with a Polaroid camera I rec'd as a Christmas present. Even at 10 years old I knew I wanted better quality than that.

As I got older I progressed to better quality cameras ending up with the Canon digital Rebel XT my husband bought me a couple months ago. Until that point my "good" photos were always done with a Canon film SLR. I also carry my Canon Powershot in my purse at all times and I use it at least once a week.

Finding time for my love of photography is very difficult. I work 10 hours a day and commute 3 hours. Yes, I know I'm insane. But, it's very common in California. I live in a wonderful area about 90 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Beauty abounds year round near my home but my photo excursions are restricted to weekends only during fall and winter months. Summer and spring see longer daylight giving me a chance to catch sunsets and dramatic evening light before heading off to bed.

Until recently I have had the luxury of a photography equipment pack mule name Brian (my wonderful husband) who would lug everything around for me and enthusiastically point out things along our hike. (It's so much easier to change lenses and filters when you can get them directly out of someone else's backpack while on the move.) Much to my delight, he has recently expressed his desire to join me in taking pictures during my photography quests and learn the photo editing programs. I can see it now……..fighting for lenses and computer time. :-) Maybe he'll end up on this site too.

I am extremely open to constructive criticism as I am not as good as I want to be and welcome any comments or pointers you might have.
