    Biography: At the age of 42, following over twenty years as a high school biology teacher, I began writing and drawing. Two years later I had written and illustrated my first nationally published book. This was followed by eight additional volumes that I both wrote and illustrated.     My wife and I are both avid naturalists and birders. One of her solo passions is geology; one of mine is meteorology.

    I am totally unschooled in all of the talents necessary for my life pursuits. This has made my endeavors trial and error nightmares. Such is the case with these, my earliest efforts at "serious" photography.
