Biography: how about that, back-to-back ribbons a year apart ;-)

quote of the year (imho) by 21.gif yanko: "I liked Gordon's shot but in terms of it being a thumb to the eye it is a rather lighthearted attempt at such. I thought Skip's entry was more effective and stayed the course. He used everything DPC's despises, blurriness, ugly colors, noise and a subject matter devoid of all wow factor and used a title that didn't seem to match the chosen picture. He created an ugly picture on the surface and used symbolism to convey his message and entered it on a site that demands literal and superficial presentations of beauty. If Gordon used his thumb Skip used his middle finger.

is it the end of the day, yet, or has tomorrow already started without me... -- sr 1/31/06

    i am thankful

"The human experience can be without mercy ... especially for those who have chosen to document it." - Dan Beatty, Photo Quality Control Director, Richmond Times-Dispatch

PS Workshop Examples, this week, or have a grin.

Feel free to PM me during challenges i probably won't change my score or comment, but if it makes you feel better, go for it!

"I am going to forget about these challenges for a while until I ... I always say this and end up entering something mediocre" - anonymous

"I just don't know why I do it sometimes." - Imagineer

This quote of Jon's is probably one of the most astute approaches to DPC: "I've come to realise now more than ever that all I want to do is shoot images that are personally fulfilling. Quite frequently now, I find myself underwhelmed by the challenge winners so it matters less and less to win but instead to see how people react to one of my shots."

The only mistake you can make here is to quit trying

I think DPC is a fantastic resource. There is an incredible body of work to learn from and to try to emulate. There is talent galour. There is a very sharing community. I just would caution people not to take it too personally or too seriously when scoring/comments don't seem to be going their way. I also think that sometimes you can learn more not by submitting, but honestly and constructively critiquing...
