Looking at the light, in need of hope. As the image clears in my mind, all interpretations blend into one. Thanks for sharing.

The color change tells an interesting story. This makes me sad.

Powerful portrait. Uncommonly relaxed, without forced emotion via imagery or the title.

I am sorry for your pain......so sorry........how does one score such a picture?

Takes a while, with a break from all the realistic photos in the challenge, but this has some interesting facets to it. The white face that looks like is unresolves on its right side (especially the nose), and firms up into a flesh colored mostly in focus ear on his left side. My impression is of an older guy struggling to resolve his life's experiences with the remainder of his life.

Your title puts this image into a new catagory for me. The oxygen mask, the blur, the faded colors, are all 'fade'. Intense.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Emotive title and an image processed in a way that conveys it is doing its best to hang onto reality - that resonance with the subject is well made and appropriate. The eyes are stunning - they anchor the image and offer depth to photo and subject. Of course, the motion blur is the most significant choice you've made in your capture - such foresight.

Critical stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: An amazingly communicative image.

Unsettling and unnerving. A complex sort of portrait that poses questions instead of answers. Well done.

Crikey! That's spare, ain't it? My first thought was that it is a picture of Cormac McCarthy's prose. Thus I love it. Thank you. 7.

This is very sad and a little surreal. I can see what you're going for here but it doesn't quite work for me personally, for an emotional subject I prefer clear focus and details to really take everything in.

Sorry but not a fan of "blurry, artsy, abstract" images so I voted this a 3, I mean no disrespect as this person seems to have on an oxygen mask, hope he/she has made a great recovery.
