Very low window light shot of my son and his dog. They were lying on the bed and I snuck up to take a shot when he just rolled over and looked right into the lens. Nikkor 85 1.4G - just got this lens and it just blows me away. Shot raw, color efex pro contrast, sharpening. I love that the dog is so out of focus as that is how he is, ever-present and always there protecting you.

Is that a German Shorthaired Pointer? I love this photograph and I LOVE that breed.

I thought this was a fascinating portrait -- should have comment when voting. Glad to see it got some PH recognition. It was under appreciated.

Like the different approach.

I kind of wish some feature of the dog were more prominent, made it more recognizable. Without the title, it looks like he's hiding behind a pillow or piece of furniture at first glance.

Good light and choice of framing.

his eye looks flat. may enhance the color and sharpen.

What a lovely shot. Being ultra critical you I feel the composition is improved by cropping the top part of the boys head so his eye is on the 2/3rds line. Easy fix for a great shot of the young man and his companion.

By the title I want to recognize more of the dog. Love the soft focus.

Love the neutral tones, really helps bring out the blue in his eye. Good shot.

not sure I like the blurred dog in foreground but love the crop on the little boys face

I really want to comment on this without giving offense... the dog seems to be more of a blob of nothing rather than an attribute in this image. With a model with eyes like this boy I doubt you needed to obscure him with anything - he seems so full of character!

I find myself really wishing the dog was in more light and more focus. That could have been really nice.

Love the tones and light, but I really feel the boy should've been in the front and dog in the back. Cute kid.
