This is really good. To be able to switch from your realistic representations in the great black and white landscapes you do, to reduce the technique(I mean in a culinary sense) and put together a shot like this... just great.

Baroque and yet, so simple - this is THE image we long for to contemplate.

"Is there anything of which one can say,
“Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
No one remembers the former generations,
and even those yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow them.
"

A spectacular palipsest of memory and melancholy as said by the Ecclesiastes

"For who knows what is good for a person in life, during the few and meaningless days they pass through like a shadow? Who can tell them what will happen under the sun after they are gone?
"

I consider this image a spectacular achievement in photography.
This is by far the best interpretation of the challenge in my view, leaving the digital art and other little tricks way behind.

One just has to ponder, re-assess. Thank you very much.

I enjoy the tense dark textures you made here, though I do wish there was some sort of central figure, you certainly evoked the spirit of Poe.

Powerful scene. Full of chaos that represents the melancholia.

As I said before, does not communicate much melancholy to me (undoubtedly because of the fiery sky), but what a wonderful, interesting composition!

Exceptionally dark and moody and obviously appropriate. Going out on a limb here and saying this is a Bear_Music image based on the processing?

I see a monster in the sky. Sky dominates more than waters, title seems to support the water as dominate. Probably doesn't make any difference.

Sorta strange image. I can't really put into words why I like this, but it was the one that drew me the most. Good job.
