I am delighted to see this exquisite shot on the Home page every day, and have to keep coming to look at it full screen. Just incredible, and a joy to look at.
Congratulations!

Thank you all for liking my photo. I was determined to find some snow for this shot so I got in the car and drove to Snoqualmie Pass, east of Seattle. I hit some very thick fog and could barely read the highway signs so not wanting to go any further, I pulled off on the next road where I saw a sign to Alpenthal ski area. I saw this amazing creek as I was driving up the snowy road. A lot of you commented on this being a nice b & w shot, in fact, it is living color. It was very foggy. Thank you again -- I got my first ribbon!

A lovely scene. I really like the composition on this. The tree taking up the right side of the frame, and the 'path' down the middle are very strong.

Absolutely beautiful! I especially love the mist in the distance... so atmospheric. It's just perfect. I can't fault it, and I love looking at it. I have to give it 10.

Very nice picture. I love the fade-off into the haze.

Looks like a classic greeting card shot. I wish the tips of te first 3 trees on the left were just a tad darker and more distinct, but the rest of the trees fade perfectly. Would also look great run through a "painting" filter.
This is apparently not the same Rocky Creek where I've taken some photos...

Like a post card. Very nice. I really like how the snow coveres everything and makes the tree branches droop. Normally, I'm not fond of the blown out white sky, but I think it works in this shot. It's a foggy kind of look, and I think it fits with the overall effect of the shot. The angle and framing/cropping are really good. Focus and clarity are great as well. Great job. Good luck in the challenge.

This is beautiful and so well in focus. I love how you have cropped it making a frame for the creek. I'll take your word that there is a creek down there. I would love to see this in color also - there greenery coming thru the snow. I'd give this an 8 easily. PTL

Beautiful! I was hoping for a similar snowstorm here for this challenge, but it didn't happen. The snow on the trees is just great -- way to go!

I love the trees fading into the fog in the background...beautiful effect. But (eek) the big tree in the foreground disturbs me...feels like it's blocking my view of something incredible.

Very nice postcard look. I really like how the cloudy skies are pushing down on the scene. 8 Swash

challenge met. i really like how the trees seem to be fading into the background ... as if they are going on forever. truly w/out the hand of man! i also like the contrast between the dark rocks and trees and the white snow, you have achieved a very good tonal range here w/out blowing anything out. the only small criticism i have (and that's not even part of the photo and just personal taste) is the small white border. i feel it should be larger or not there at all. it also somehow looks wider at the bottom than on the sides (optical illusion, i'm sure). overall, nice entry!

Beautiful, this looks like a painting. Love the way there is no obvious intrusion of man, no footsetps and everything is perfect. Great job! definitely fits the challenge, and I like the receding lines of the trees and the way you put this in black and white. It's a classic! Only thing I would say is that the top left looks a little light... not really a lot of definition there but that could have been caused by the weather, or that may have been what you were trying to achieve. -9 Great Job!

Gorgeous shot, love the black and white. Very moody, mysterious and cold. Wouldn't want to live there I don't think. 10

Oh how beautiful! North country...I miss it. This looks like the Adirondacks. You did a wonderful job of capturing the magic. The only thing I'd do differently is to have the clearing (stream bed?) off center, on a diagonal I think....just a personal preference. It's a beauty!
