I gave blood to get this shot. North of where I live in CO is a place called Rocky Flats. It was a nuclear bomb making facility, or at least they did something with uranium and maybe took some part in the production of nuclear weapons. It has since been dismatantled and is no longer a bomb making facility. Nevertheless, where this building stands is federal property. The building stands about 150 yards off the road and is protected by a barb wire fence. Now, I am normally a very agile walker and normally can cross a fence without incident. But the evening I was crossing this fence, it caught my right shin and would not let go! A barb punctured my skin and was lodged in so deep that I had to stand there and twist the wire to a point where I could pull it out from my leg. I had my Leica around my neck but it didn't occur to me then to take a photo of the injury. Anyway, after that, there was no way in hell I was about to just walk away without a photo. So I walked over to the stone building and took my time with taking some shots. What I entered was the best of the bunch. It was completely dark by the time I was done and walked back to my car in the dark, very carefully. Ironically, about 15 feet from where I crossed the fence the first time, there was a stretch of fence where the barb wire was not present and lying on the ground, so I crossed without any adventure back to my car. The next day, I went to get my Tetanus shot, no sense in taking any chances. $60 for the shot, hope this scores well.
The light in the image is natural and about an hour and a half after the setting. A long shutter and ISO of 800 makes the image appear to be while the sun was still up. |

| Interesting play of filters and layers - it makes it appear clearly 3 dimensional on the screen - which makes it feel artificial unfortunately. |
