Challenge: Stripes (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: 2011
Camera: Canon Powershot G11
Date: Aug 14, 2011
Aperture: F7.1
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/500
Date Uploaded: Aug 14, 2011

Another cycling shot that I love, which is probably an indicator for a mid-pack placement.

Anticipated critiques:
- I expect someone to be very literal and critique this as a "stripe", when the topic is "stripes", and thus DNMC.

Post-challenge notes:
Held over a 6 all week and then lost it either in the last few minutes or at rollover. Well, now I can post it in the tiny violin thread!

Did quite well, Steve - congrats! I didn't get to voting on this one so I missed this. Great perspective and definitely my kind of shot. (Never mind - just read the rest of the comments about the processing.)

There is something so 3-d about this image, Steve! Love it, and sharing the page with you.

Just some selective editing, with a heavier dose of tonemapping applied to the pavement. I can post the OOTC shot later on if you are interested in how it started.

Love it as much as the previous one Steve. And it has three stripes. The middle obvious yellow one and 2 grey ones either side of it...

Looks like a Steve shot. Great texture on the road, the tilted horizon line works well for a shot of this nature because it creates a sense of forward moment on the bikes as well as creating a dynamic leading line into the frame drawing your attention right up to the bikers.

Nice overall clarity and tones. I like the tread marks and gravelly feel of the road/bike path, however if I was to find one nit pick I personally would have spot edited at least some of the larger black debris since it's one of the first things that grabbed my attention.

Great job. 8

Love the texture on the road and the angle that you shot or cropped at. 8

OK, the challenge was "stripes", you my friend, captured only a single stripe. DNMC!!

J/K, I like this shot, I wonder though, if you leveled out the horizon it would give the viewer a sense of speed since the bikers would be more leaned into the curve?
