Challenge: Vanishing Point (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon PowerShot S50
Location: greenwich foot tunnel
Date: Aug 7, 2004
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/15
Date Uploaded: Aug 9, 2004

i took this on an early morning field trip to greenwich, with the hope of capturing this before all the tourists turned up. there were still kids in pushchairs yelling and enjoying the echo, but they were suitably far apart so as not to intrude.

the tunnel isn't really this dark, but i wanted a more gothicky feel so applied curves and contrast adjustments. i think i might have overdoe that and the USM as it's a little noise-ridden and it has blotchy red artefacts - but it's the most in-focus shot out of the lot, so it has to do. i'm hoping that this will be liked a bit.

I like the gritty and psychadelic style of this one - don't be discouraged if others don't. You impressively managed to capture wildness from a still environment.

The shine and the lights make this work so well.

Nice angular effect which plays well with a good and strange lighting.

A real quality image, some might say a bit obvious but very well presented non the less. The only flaw, if you can call it that, for me would be the very burnt out lights, but I don't know how that could be avoided without some manipulation. The viewpoint is excellent, the depth of field is spot on, the colour, the reflections combine to produce a very high quality image in my opinion. One I would be very proud of and very envious of as it happens. Well done!

I really like this shot. the spooky feel created by the dampness, and the reflections brought out by the longer exposure really work well. Very nicely done!

Interestinbg composition. I like the spiral effect that it has when you look at it.

No - it's way more than that - or did you count 'em? Exceptional demo of vanishing point. Nice lighting and colors. I like your perspective too - staying close to the right wall.

Did you count them yourself? Cool lighting, the coloring works I think. Clearly does what the contest asks for, 6.

Like the multiple vanishing elements, bulbs, shadows, tiles. What kind of service tunnel is this?

The colour choice here adds to the slightly menacing atmosphere. Nice choices.

like the angle and the colours, but the white light in the corner is distracting and the image is a little too shiny overall. a bit overdone. good effort though.

I love the lighting, direction, vanishing point. It would be better, I think, to crop out the light on the left side but other than that great.

good composition, where is it? Maybe a touch more DOF would be nice, and also a bit noisy, but I'd say 7.

nice and wet. Well exposed too. Unusual angle of approach - most people will shoot straight on, so this is good thinking.
