Challenge: Rule of Thirds in Blue (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-550D Rebel T2i
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Clifton Springs, Australia
Date: Jul 16, 2011
Aperture: 16
ISO: 100
Shutter: 113s
Galleries: Seascapes
Date Uploaded: Jul 16, 2011

Experimental PP. Not quite sure about this much blue and color saturation. Very interested how this scores. Almost 2 minute exposure with ND400, ND8 and CPL stacked together to capture cloud movement.

Since everyone seems to have a different interpretation of this challenge I am not expecting much and probably lots of DNMCs as there is no bluebird in it ;) (just some black birds and they are not exactly in the ROT "area" :)

6.85 at 100. Amazing! It was sub 6 for a while. 1 2s, 0 3s, 4 4s, 8 10s

[Jul. 26th, 2011 05:18:57 PM]

7.0067 at 150 - I doubt it will stay at 7+

Thanks everyone for comments, especially from Aussies! I am pleased this image did well regardless of the conflicting views on ROT.

I don't understand why you would think that. Just plain wrong.

Just looked at your entry and don't see any difference in how you composed your own. So we share a similar view of how ROT composition might be set up...

Definitely disagree. Horizon is on a proper third, as it should be for a seascape. The initial posts are on intersecting thirds. There is a second horizon in the sky on another third. Beautiful ocean tones presented in thirds...a pair of triangles created by the horizon and posts ( right and left frame), and a center triangle created by the vanishing posts. Forget all of those thirds, check out the birds.

Well, Well, it is very similar to your other image I liked so much and it really packs a punch with so much blue .. I am really enjoying seeing your body of work especially because you haven't been here all that long and you are getting ribbons galore. Now I really can't wait to see what you bring back from your balloon expedition and I expect great things - I really doubt that you will let something such as fear of heights stop you because you have found your ... sweet spot :) Loving it .. you go girl!

This is stunning, but it might be stronger if you had decided to crop out most of that sky. All of the power here is in that beautiful composition of the pier.

Interesting. This image looked really purple on my horrible work monitor. You'll be glad I didn't vote at work!
