 Was on vacation at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, and had several good shots for this challenge. Plenty of time to look for bugs, with my friends and family giving me a very difficult time of spending my time chasing bugs. Oh well, I had plenty of fun. Got lucky on the last day when the wind died down and I managed to capture a few images of this specimen known as the Familiar Bluet Dragonfly. I have learned that the Damsel Fly is very similar and very difficult to distinguish between the two. But I matched up all the same features and this image appears to be the Familiar Bluet. These dragonflies, like most are very skittish when you approach them. I was able to approach this one only because it was busy eating it's lunch which appears to be a small fly or mosquito. These dragonflies are in the range of 1.5 inches long. They have Very vivid blue colors, I did not have to increase any saturation or vibrance during PP. A side note... I used the Servo focus setting on my 1D since the wind was blowing just a bit so the servo setting worked very well with keeping the subject in focus.

Ohh, that damselfly has dinner! What is it? Looks like it might be a mosquito?

A good day for the Damsel, not so much for the prey (grasshopper?). Exactly the type of moment that belongs in a challenge like this IMO. Nice light, too.
